What's your favorite Relay memory?
HM: Every single thing I've ever done in the Relay morph suit, which includes but is not limited to doing the worm on a cross walk, wobbling on tables in Clemons, and backing it up on several people at the main event.
LT: I don't have one specific Relay memory rather I enjoy all the crazy, inspiring, dedicated people I meet each year because of Relay. I love how Relay brings together so many passionate people and I am beyond thankful for the memories and friendships I have because of Relay and I look forward to many more this coming year!
Why do you Relay?
HM: I relay for my grandmother who passed away from lung cancer. I am continuing to fight, so that in the future I can grow old with the ones I love.
LT: I Relay so that no one has to grow up without their best friend, the mom, their dad, their grandparent, or sibling. I Relay so that everyone has the chance to look forward to their next birthday with happiness and thanks rather than with fear and uncertainty.
What is your job for Relay 2014-15?
HM: The publicity committee spreads the Relay word in just about every way we can dream up. From social media and blasting Facebook newsfeeds to flyering and chalking to 3D installations around grounds, we want to make sure everyone at UVA and in the Charlottesville community knows about Relay and what we do.
LT: My job for Relay 2014-2015 is to promote and spread the Relay message to everyone on Grounds and within the Charlottesville community. Any questions about advertising and how to spread the Relay message or events related to Relay should come to myself or my cochair Hallie. We love meeting new people and hearing about any and all ideas to get the Relay message out there!
What do you do on Grounds outside of Relay?
HM: VASST, AXO, Madison House Recreational Therapy, SOCA Rec-Soccer, Dumpling Cart Regular
LT: I coach soccer through Madison House and do volunteer work usually with kids, the elderly, and the homeless.
